In the year 1925, Late P.C. Borooah — a pioneer tea-planter of Assam — established Sundarpur Tea Estate. A man of extraordinary vision, he went on to become a Freedom Fighter, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional tea and courage.
Today, the estate continues to honour that founding spirit. Nestled in the verdant plains of the upper Brahmaputra valley, Sundarpur spans lush acres of single-estate cultivation — where the deep, malty character of true Assam tea is carefully nurtured through every season.
"The soil of Assam holds within it a story older than memory. We merely bring it to your cup."
From a jungle grant cleared on foot in 1925 to 1.8 million kilograms of premium tea today — the Borooah family's century-long journey defines what Sundarpur stands for.
In 1925, Late P.C. Borooah — a pioneer tea-planter of Assam who went on to become a Freedom Fighter and then a Parliamentarian — embarked on a remarkable journey into the world of tea by clearing and planting a grant of land known to the local inhabitants as "Sundarpur".
Travelling large distances by foot, bicycle and bullock cart to reach Sundarpur, his determination, hard work and persistence slowly bore fruit — and the young plantation began to flourish.

In 1975, the reins of administration passed to Late Mr. Jayanta Kumar Borooah. His single-handed toil and devotion established Sundarpur Tea Estate as a producer of high quality Assam tea at the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre.
"To make Sundarpur a producer of high quality Assam Tea, and to let the consumers Taste the Difference."

Our core mission is to establish an active agro-ecosystem that is socially responsible, ecologically sustainable, and economically viable. We achieve this by maximizing organic inputs, prioritizing biological disease controls, and intentionally altering field habitats to encourage natural pest predators to thrive.
Soil rejuvenation through extensive vermiculture stands at the center of our cycle, utilizing indigenous earthworm species to process organic residues into rich nutrient matrices. This estate-produced vermicompost is integrated precisely during nursery rooting-sleeve filling, block replanting, and mature field applications to cultivate robust macro- and micro-flora activity.
